Title: Altec Model 19 (pair)
Post by: Plink on July 12, 2012, 04:19:45 PM
Hi folks,

Yes, these are for sale and available locally.  I do not see these around Pittsburgh that often so please take note.

These Altec Model 19 speakers are in great shape with teh crossovers rebuilt (caps and resistors replaced but original inductors remain).  The top of each speaker is refinished with a light sanding and oil and the sides have not yet been refinished (too busy listening) but will look very nice when this is completed.

This is my second pair of 19s and I assure you that all is good with these and that they do sound fantastic.  Nothing is wrong...I just would like to move to smaller speakers.

I have the original manual and an Altec brochure to go with these beauties.  I bought these locally a year ago.

99 db sensitive at 1 meter.  811 sectoral horn, 802 drivers, and 15"  416 woofer.  Tangerine phase plug.  8 ohm.

$1,999

Cheers,

P

Do you have change for two $1000 bills?  ;D

P.S. - If you are going to be selling big dollar items on this forum, folks may feel a bit more inclined to make a purchase if introduce yourself in the new members area.  ;D

$1,999 is a bit cheeky, isn't it.

I have tons of feedback on Audiogon under Plinko and anyone is welcome to come by my place and have a look at these beauties.

Btw, I am in the Burgh and any lack of confidence or reticence can be addressed by an enjoyable listening session...just bring some brews to share.  Lol.   ;D

I think, but am not sure, that a price adjustment is due... Not that I'm interested, it's just my assumption.

Price adjustment?

Why doesn't he just make them a full $2000 and post a picture?

Not that I'm interested either...

So are you telling people that you aren't selling them then?  Confused by your post and lack of pictures.  No, i'm not interested either.

No longer for sale and therefore no need to post pictures.

I do apologize (sincerely) but I don't think we would have made a deal as I would not have negotiated a price.  Hope that provides some consolation.

Why don't you just ask me instead of talking about me in the third person?  Seems a bit rude, eh?

I have enough experience buying audio equipment (both modern and vintage) to know that eventually a buyer would have come along who did not want the long wait for a local pair and/or did not want to deal with travel needed to obtain a pair.  If I was in need of dumping these, then yes, the price would be lower.

Respectfully, we could discuss price and why I believe they are worth the price all day long but in the end, it comes down to the fact I own them and I value the speakers at the price previously communicated.  Whether they sell or not, is not an issue.

Well, I could care less if you sell those antiquated particle board refrigerators. I made the suggestion in good humor because I'm aware that the general utility of the active members on this forum is such that they will be more inclined to take your ad seriously if you post photographs and kindly introduce yourself in the new member section as opposed to referencing your reputation on other audio sites as a valid credential. As I'm sure you've noticed, this forum isn't like the others. Above all things, we value humor. :)

Sorry if I offended you and / or your third person persona. I meant no harm by my comments.

Cool? Cool.  ;D

It's cool.

I referenced other audio sites because it is where I have sold things and have feedback.  Sheesh.

Has anybody here ever eaten tongue? Does it taste like anything?

Man you are one cool clever dude.  Tongue from a cow is awesome.  Delicious.  You should try it.

Btw, Sunnydaze, I said anyone is welcome to have a listen. In person.  In my home.  That is a much more solid stance than introducing myself on a forum under a pseudonym like most everyone here.  No?

Time to leave the thread alone and stop bumping this to the top.  People have things to sell.

The flavor is okay, but I couldn't get past the rubbery texture.

wow! this thread has really gotten off topic since the last time I checked it. Altec 19s ----> Eating Tongue. Impressive.
