Title: new and want to learn more about old Altec
Post by: abat_jour on April 15, 2013, 01:34:10 PM
Hi,
Thanks for having this forum, I love forums and they can be very helpful.
I am new to the world of audiophilia in terms of anything other than listening. To make a long story short, I have 2 old altec tube amps + tuner, plus an iconic 826a + corner altec (i forgot the number but i opened it up a while ago).

The speakers are connected to a moderns 90s era reciever and player. I am having some problems with sound and connection. I think its the reciever though and probably need to replace the speaker wires. I am a complete newbie and sorta inherited it (I should have but had to buy them  off the EVIL EVIL EVIl estate sale people although my grandpa bequethed them to me in writing many years ago)

I spoke to the store owner a while ago back when the speakers were going to be sold to get a value and he said join the forum and that there's some altec fans on here. Id love to get some help from you....one day I would LOVE to hook up the tube amps!!!

You should also only start one thread about your problems so that we don't repeat advice.

I gave my two cents on the other thread.
