I prefer to describe it as "he is taking a sabbatical and will eventually return".

He is doing great.  He recently acquired VMPS RM40 speakers in some dark exotic Brazilian wood that, to my eyes,  are the coolest speakers I have ever seen.  Even quiet they make me drool.  They also sound fantastic. He also added a great exotic battery-driven DAC.  He has the whole  setup tuned pretty good at this point.

He's also running a passive pre now, and added a Clearaudio turntable to the mix.

I'm also really excited that he's still using his passive preamp.  I love mine. Honestly the most transparent preamp I've ever heard.  Of course system synergy plays a huge role in using passives.
