Title: I have no idea how this started...
Post by: non-prophet on February 04, 2017, 11:51:58 AM
Well, I am closing in on completing my "vintage" set up.  Last piece I need (actually want, not need) is the impossible to find Luxman 2003/2002 tube crossover.  If you find one, I will pay a ransom for it.  Still have not decided on speakers.  Enjoy the pics.
The set up:

Luxman C-1000 preamp
Luxman M-4000 amp (180wpc)
Luxman M-4000 amp
Luxman T-110u tuner
Luxman G-11 EQ
Luxman PD 121 w/Grace 704 Shure v15 iv cart
Luxman PD 121 w/Infinity Black Widow Ortofon MC10 cart
McCormack Signature CD player (not pictured)

Spare pieces that are currently for sale in the pic:  Luxman C-1010 preamp and Luxman T-88v tuner

Very nice and I'll bet it sounds as good as it looks.  By the way, it starts one piece at a time and then just spreads like weeds in the yard

Pepe, I welcome enjoying a beer with you.  My trade secrets, not so much.

Nick,

Nick.

I expect it will sound even better than it looks.   Do you plan to use it as the main system?

I know I can google this but apart from draining your wallet even more, what does a tube crossover do?

Everything looks nice, of course.  Will this be our new main system?

While that looks like a sweet piece and I'd love to hear it, I can't help but think that may be a tad high.

I have no idea,  never even knew that piece existed.  There is also no other reference to go to for price either.  I will agree though, 2k+ to me would definitely be high.

Already got one, wasn't quite that expensive. I would compare it to the audio research 3 way tube crossover, so fair market should be around $1000, maybe a little more for that one since it's nice and complete.  If anyone else finds one, i am getting Phil Marchand (marchand crossovers) to make my cut off boards.
