Say hello to my C-1.  It was born right at the time that metal tapes were coming out.  So, you can adjust the crap out of it [notice "optional bias/eq card"]to make it work with metal tapes,  but it is probably not a great idea. It was not designed for metal.   How does this one sound?  I can't tell you. I bought it two years ago,  bought the belt kit to refurbish it but have never dedicated time to the job.  How do I know about its ability to handle metal tape?  I bought two at the same time,  fixed one, tested it, sold it.   This one will get some love eventually.   Great decks by Teac back then,  even if the belts turn into a liquid mess after enough time.
