Not really sure how to frame this one for the forum, so the subject probably says it all. He passed this morning. Not going to blast the details on a public forum, but feel free to message me in private about it. I wanted to post on here so you guys knew, as this place provided a massive distraction for him for the last several years. So yeah, everyone have a beer or a whiskey in his honor.

My sincerest condolences to you and your entire family. He will be (and actually, already has been) missed. I think I'll play Abbey Road tonight in his memory.
-
Very sorry. He was a cool guy.

Everything I know about exotic multi-tape-deck switches, Brad taught me. He had so many great stories about being an audio geek in the 70s, and about when he worked at Lafayette Radio. He kept stuff for the long haul (still had the two reel to reel decks he bought in the early 70s, and a smorgasbord of reel and cassette recordings he made) and maintained it. He was funny as heck. You will be missed, PapaBear!

My deepest sympathies to you and your family, BJ. I never really knew your Dad, but felt we were kindred spirits-both player a horn, about the same age... He struggled with that nasty cancer as long as I have been on this Forum.
-
Steve, you and the family have my deepest sympathy...
As said... RIP PBJ... :(
-
Very sorry to hear, my thoughts go out to you and your family. Only knew him through the forum, but as it was said he's been missed.
-
Sad to hear the news. Always enjoyed his sense of humor along with his helpful posts.
Will raise a glass to him this evening.

If someone sees anything regarding funeral arrangements etc., please post them. Thanks Jim

The funeral will be at Ralph Schugar in Shadyside: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ralph+Schugar+Inc+Funeral+Home/@40.4568513,-79.9380956,17z/data= (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ralph+Schugar+Inc+Funeral+Home/@40.4568513,-79.9380956,17z/data=)!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x8834f21362d29ec1:0x83cabbb6c0ab9ada!8m2!3d40.4568513!4d-79.9359069
It'll be on Thursday the 20th. Visitation is from noon to 1pm, and I guess there's a ceremony at 1, which I expect will be less than a half hour or so. Then the whole sitting shiva thing I think will be on Thursday and Sunday at the social hall in my parents apartment building in Forest Hills/Wilkinsburg; can get you more details if you PM me about it. Not posting the address on here... stranger danger.
Thanks for the support, guys.

Does anybody remember what his AK screen name was? I saw posts but always talked to him here, so I can't recall. I can put a notice there as well if that would be appropriate.
-
I'll take care of it, Mark. Going to grab his iPad today so I can do that. I appreciate it though. I think that's the only one though; I don't think he went on tapeheads anymore. I'll check though.

His last post on tapeheads was on 2/22/17, and he went as BradH.
Rest in Peace, PapaBear, pain is not able to torture any longer!

Positive thoughts for you and your family Steve.

I am deeply saddened to hear this news. Brad and I were friendly. We talked frequently but not so much in the last year or more. I know that he struggled for a long time. He will be missed. A real class guy and a genuinely nice man.
-
My deepest condolences. I'm one of the few that only knew of your dad through this forum. It was obvious he was highly respected and loved by many. Rest in peace my fellow music lover.

Just in case anyone wanted to see it, here's the obituary: http://www.schugar.com/obituaries?id=1683 (http://www.schugar.com/obituaries?id=1683)

Thank you for sharing this. I just made a small offering to Bugles Across America but sadly didn't see a place to write that it was in Brad's honor.

The website is wonky, unless you catch the checkbox on the 1st screen you will not see the option on the later ones. Brad must be happy we are helping his bugle people either way. O0
